In order to provide opportunity for higher studies in sports
coaching and to develop research aptitude of the Coaches, the Institute
started two years Master of Sports Coaching. Master of Sports Coaching is
conducted in Athletics, Basketball, Football, Gymnastic, Hockey, Swimming,
Volleyball, Weightlifting and Wrestling. The Master of Sports Coaching is
affiliated to Punjabi University Patiala (India).
DURATION
2 Years (July-May)
ELIGIBILITY
(I) Graduate in any subject from any recognized Indian/Foreign
university.
(ii) Diploma course in Sports Coaching from S.A.I., N.S.N.I.S., Patiala or its other
academic centres.
(iii) Aptitude for Research Work.
(iv) Sports Proficiency.
AGE
Not more than 45 years on the day of commencement of the course
(upper age limit can be relaxed up to 3 years in case of deserving candidate)
SELECTION
The selection of the candidates for admission to Master of Sports
Coaching will be conducted at Patiala. The candidates seeking admission to
Master of Sports Coaching shall have to qualify in the written test regarding
knowledge of Sports Sciences, and in the interview in which personality,
power of expression and knowledge in the field of sports be looked into and
should posses research aptitude. The selection will also be based on the
academic qualifications, achievements in the concerned field of sports,
experience, achievements in the field of coaching and marks obtained in
Diploma Course in Sports Coaching.

SUBMISSION OF DISSERTATION up to 30th May
VACATION
Winter (Last week of December - Ist week of January) Summer (Ist June - 10th
July)
MEDIUM English only.
METHOD OF INSTRUCTION
Theory: Through lectures, discussions, seminars, paper readings, projects,
films & video analysis and assignments.
Practical: Actual participation, teaching practice, coaching practice,
organizing sports meets/tournaments and training practice and officiating.
ATTENDANCE
Students of Master Degree Course require minimum of 85% attendance.
HOLIDAYS
Sunday, IInd Saturdays and Central Government Gazetted
holidays.
AVAILABLE DISCIPLINES
Sports Authority
of India reserves the right to cancel a course or change the venue of a
course in view of inadequate response or under any other unavoidable
circumstances.
